FAQ-Terminology & Video
Q: Why are some of the names of the tricks wrong?
Trickers from different places sometimes have different names for various tricks, and the names I use are my best attempt at the
most popular/most frequently used ones. There's no way of knowing (yet) who's name is right or wrong, but some of the names even
I don't know! If you think you have a more recent name feel free to e-mail me. Aside from that, things will constantly be updated,
so keep checking back.
Q: You missed a transition in your combo listing!?
Yes, some people think there are more transitions or that some moves ought to be considered transitions, and I in fact I've seen a
few that are brand new and must fit somewhere. The purpose of my combo listing however, is to have a template to work off of and
as more are established or as it becomes more apparent that changes need to be made I will add them. I'm hoping people will be
able to put this system into practice and together we can assemble a more efficient combination listing, or an updated one. I am
open to discussion on this topic.
Q: What is the kick bridge about?
Because MAT is not any specific martial art but rather a compilation, the names for similar kicks such as hook kicks, wheel kicks,
and crescent kicks, are different. Since it is often very difficult to decide which kick it is exactly, I have simplified it to all outward
(and inward kicks) being simply a backslash "\" (or slash "/" for inward kicks). It is my intent that whoever is interpreting the
combo can then apply hook, crescent, or wheel as they see fit. IMPORTANT: If the symbol is on the end of the name of the trick
(i.e. Btwist/) it is part of the trick "Btwist round." If the symbol is before the trick (\Btwist) it is the mini transition kick bridge
"hook kick Btwist," and again unless specific to the transition as in a hook kick that swings through into a 1990 (\+1990) the slash
or backslash symbol replaces the main transition.
Q: What are the parenthesis in the combos?
The words in the parenthesis are expletives that can designate whether a trick is a certain style such as a flashkick with one leg in
a (grab), or a Btwist with a purposeful (stall,) or to a position or stance such as a backflip to (splits) or a frontflip to (kneel). Also,
because I am less knowledgeable in break dancing I will sometimes use (breaking) in place of whatever move is being performed.
Trickers- let's keep the new Bboy moves coming so the whole world learns about that aspect!

Q: What about the name "tricktionary?"
I thought I was extremely clever coming up with this name, until someone pointed out that Sean Cannon's www.Club540.com
already had a trick dictionary called the "trickionary." Can't win 'em all, credit given to him. Update 11/1/2006: It has come to my
attention that Gareth of Kyukodo.com also has a "tricktionary." Great minds think alike.
